I work in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with an interest in head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstruction. I'm also conducting research into oral cancer.
I'm new to programming, and having learnt enough python to conduct basic statistical analysis and draw simple graphs, I'm getting more and more interested in how data science techniques can be used to automate some of the arduous parts of my research, particularly the database-crunching. StackOverflow has been a key part of my learning process so far, and I've taken the plunge from being a long-term lurker and am hoping to learn and contribute as I get better at coding. I'm also hoping to convince my fellow doctors that learning coding can benefit them too...
