I attended classes at Turing School of Software and Design after spending years exploring the world via bike, boat, train, plane, and automobile, experiencing tremendous growth as a human and learning as much as possible about sustainable agriculture. I visited and WWOOFed on various farms & gardens, took garden and farm apprenticeships and jobs, and was an active part of the Permaculture community in my hometown. Unfortunately and ironically, however, most sustainable agriculture jobs are not sustainable, so I worked as an administrative assistant, cab driver, server, cook, and bartender to provide for myself and spent a lot of time contemplating and researching various professions; it quickly became clear that web development would not only allow me to apply my intelligence and creativity in a productive manner, but would allow me to apply a multitude of my varied interests to my career.

After graduating from Turing, I got the chance to teach Ruby at the school and had a lot of fun exploring the ins and outs of the language but didn't feel like I was cut out to be a great teacher. I learned and grew a lot but really wanted to pursue development full-time. I joined the team at MineralUI and did componentry work for about 6 months before the company was acquired. After that, I transitioned to a more traditional front-end role on the Rally Software team and grew passionate about accessibility. I'm now a front-end developer at CirrusMD and really enjoy getting to utilize cutting-edge technology while also helping people gain access to healthcare. I'm really enthused about the things I've learned so far and can't wait to see where the path ahead will lead me.
