I have been an ecologist, an oceanographer, a science teacher, a carpenter, a tour bus driver, a volunteer jail teacher, a father, a biker (which made me also a 2-time, multi-month hospital resident), and through it all I have been a programmer. I develop tools as needed, and my software has directly saved my employers over 25,000 man hours, and probably double that by now since my GIS tools are still being used. I also develop tools to improve data quality (which got me in trouble with one professor who had been publishing horrendously error-riddled data for years) and to improve SOPs for data aquisition. I am presently predominately using c++ and Qt under linux.
