I stumbled into Data Science in the late 80s while at AutoZone - we had lots and lots of sales and car data per store. I was one of a few there that learned first DB2 and then SAS to analyze the large data sets and make good use of what we found.
So I stumbled into Data Science, learned to code SAS well, and have had fun doing this for almost 30 years with four companies.
Now I am learning Python and R via Datacamp.
I'm very thankful for Stack Overflow BTW.
