After a fourteen-year career in information security working for the Department of Defense, I have decided it is time for a change. When my last position for the Army ended early in 2017, I took the time to examine myself, to consider my strengths and weaknesses, and come up with a plan for the next stage of my career.

I love learning and thinking deeply about problems to find solutions. I want to do work that will make the world a better place for other people, starting with my family. I considered several options, but ultimately decided to become a front-end developer, with the further goal of becoming a full-stack developer.

I have had an interest in website and software development for all my life. I maintained a personal website and the website for my church in the mid 90's for a few years. I studied Information Systems as one of the focuses of my MBA where I learned SQL. I have read books on Visual Basic, C++, and Java. Often, I would solve problems in Microsoft Office using a macro, and I developed a SharePoint site for one office while working for the Army.

For the time, studying front-end development is my full time job. Although, at times, it can be frustrating, I find that I enjoy the challenge, and find it intellectually satisfying. I am looking for an opportunity where I can use the skills I have developed, and where I can develop new skills. I am looking for a position where the work I do genuinely helps other people to solve problems and empowers them to pursue their dreams. I want to do work that will make the world a better place. I would particularly enjoy an opportunity that allow me to work remotely since I enjoy being with my family and do not wish to waste hours every week on a commute.
