Dr. in geophysics working on numerical modeling with finite element methods. Teaching experience in secondary, higher and college education level
Specialties: Geophysics, numerical modeling, teaching for secondary, higher and college education, programming with Matlab, Fortran and C, CitcomS, Comsol Multiphysics.
My main professional goal is to stablish an academic career in Earth Sciences, in which I will balance research, teaching and mentoring, to ensure the advance of the field. My main research focus is to understand the dynamics of subduction and mantle convection and its geological and geophysical implications (e.g., volcanism, mountain building and Earth’s water budget). To that end, I use state of the art numerical modeling in combination with the most recent observations. I strive to make my classroom an inclusive and challenging environment where students can thrive, by including modern pedogeological methodologies. Mentoring new students is a crucial part of my role as a scientist, and I will continue helping form outstanding young scientists.
