Education
Received my MSc in Economics (with a focus on mathematical finance) in 2019. Academically, focus was on probability theory and properties of stochastic processes. Privately I started simulating these processes in Python and R, which sparked my interest in programming.
Programming
Programming constitutes a large part of my employment. I use SQL to extract data, R to transform the data into usecases, and Shiny to display the data in tables and graphs. The setup is mature, so at this point templates for graphs and tables allow for quick implementation in the UI, and consequently I can focus more on implementing new features.
Path to programming
I started programming in late 2017 (minor experience before), around the same time I entered my current job. Academia and this job then sparked an interest in programming, and today I have taken courses on Udemy, Coursera and more, and my interest is turning toward software development. I use Stack Overflow daily to help solve issues at work, and I recently decided I will start contributing with answers myself. Partly I expect to learn a tonne from this exercise, and partly I want to help others to the extent to which my abilities allow. If you read this, and you have suggestions as to how I can develop further you should feel free to contact me with any advice or thoughts.
