I'm a 62 y.o. gwm in Los Angeles and a newbie to any kind of programming. I'm retired from a good long career in television and film as a performer (not a famous face, but you've probably seen me).
I've always been a tinkerer. Started as a teen with vacuum tube technology, later got into visual fine arts. Have created and sold a number of mainly 3D art pieces I'm proud of (I mean physical, sculptural pieces) using any variety of media including woodworking, Bondo, light-weight scrap metal, technical surplus store goodies, LED and other light sources, electromechanical fun, painting, silk screening, photography, etc. I'm also a perfumer and sell my own line of niche fragrances on my website (my email domain name). I was musical as a kid, but left it when I left school. Discovered Reason some years ago and found nirvana for some time with that.
I'm discovering the limitless sky of programming late in life, which was initiated by my disdain for an odious black-box Flash site I paid too much to have built some years ago. My current project is rebuilding it relying on jQuery (wow!), so Javascript is the first language I'm becoming familiar with after learning the basics of XHTML. Working on improving my CSS savvy.
I'm a typical Mac fan. I run Mac OS X 10.6.8 on my iMac done up with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo memory: 4GB, clockspeed: 667MHz display: 23"
I have Lion ready to install, but not today. I do most of my digital creating with Adobe CS5
I'm hungry to vacuum up more cool knowledge from you young'uns, though I'm acutely aware of my slower "grasp-ability" not having been born with a computer, but eventually I do get there. Would love to spend more time learning game design, also fun/elegant/interactive artistic digital canvas creation and whatever else falls into my lap. Other interests include travel, my dick and foreign languages. I speak pretty good German, French and Spanish.
