I have 16 years experience as a software architect, developer, manager and instructor. I am currently most proficient with Perl and C/C++, but have used a wide variety of languages in the past.

I prefer expressive languages (Perl, Python, Ruby) for rapid development, extending to lower level languages (C, C++) as needed for performance or structure.

I contribute extensively to Perl-based open source software. My projects include Mason, a web framework used by thousands of sites large and small over the past fifteen years; and CHI, a unified caching framework for Perl.

I live in the SF bay area and vastly prefer to work in San Francisco/Berkeley/Oakland.
