- 8 January–2 February – The 2025 World Men's Handball Championship will be held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway.
- 20 January – The winner of the 2024 United States presidential election is scheduled to be inaugurated.
- 28 January – If not triggered earlier, the next United Kingdom general election will be held no later than this date.
- 9 February: The Super Bowl LIX, will be scheduled in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
- 13 April–13 October – Expo 2025 will be held in Osaka, Japan.[2]

- 14 October – Microsoft has set the retirement (end-of-life) date for its Windows 10 operating system on this date, phasing it out in favor of its successor, Windows 11 (or Windows 11's successors).[3][4] Users with unsupported hardware will either have to retire use of the unsupported hardware, upgrade the machine, use a non-Microsoft operation system such as macOS or Linux, or force-install Windows 11.

- 26 October – Germany will hold its next federal election.
- 11 November – Michael D. Higgins' tenure as President of Ireland will end, after 14 years.
