Aruq (Persian: اروق, also Romanized as Ārūq)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Gavdul-e Markazi Rural District[4] of the Central District of Malekan County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran.

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 3,566 in 902 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 3,904 people in 1,149 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 4,462 people in 1,288 households.[2]
