Susa Station (須佐駅, Susa-eki) is a passenger railway station located in the city of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West).[1]

Lines

Susa Station is served by the JR West San'in Main Line, and is located 540.4 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Kyoto. Only local trains stop at this station.

Station layout

The station consists of two ground-level opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge. The outer side platform was originally an island platform, but the outermost track is now cut off from the line and is unusable. The station is unattended.

History

Susa Station was opened as a terminal station of the Japan Government Railways San'in Main Line when the line was extended extended from Iinoura Station on 25 March 1928. The line was further extended to Utagō Station on 24 February 1933. Freight operations were discontinued on 1 March 1979. With the privatization of the Japan National Railway (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the aegis of the West Japan railway Company (JR West). The station was out of operation from 28 July 2013 to 10 August 2014 due to damage to the line caused by torrential rains.
